Description
The International Distance Upperman Duathlon will consist of a 3.1 Mile Run, 22 Mile Bike, and 6.2 Mile Run. The Sprint Distance will consist of a 3.1 Mile Run , 14 Mile Bike, and again a 3.1 Mile Run. The race start is located on Mosquito Landing Beach just off of Route 50. The run segments will go through the Tuckahoe Wildlife Management Area. The athletes will follow a course that is out and back on a well maintained dirt road. The road initially goes through a heavily wooded area with tall trees on both sides and then into the bay with water coming up to both sides of the road. The views on this course are a surprise to most and unmatchable by other races on the East Coast. The bike segment makes use of the well maintained and lightly traveled roads with wide shoulders that go through Tuckahoe and Woodbine. Both towns are small but vibrant in their community spirit. The cyclists will enjoy the tree lined and curvy 22 Mile loop that begins and ends with long straight roads allowing all the cyclists to see each other and therefore gage their position.
